We are stardust, we are misguided

IF you cut me, I will not bleed blood, says Salacia in episode 15 of Die Soutwaterheks.

SALACIA AND OUR friends explore the notion of everything, from Plato to Nazism, with reference to a lot of historical and scientific experiments and a nod to conspiracy theorists tossed into the mix, in episode 15 of Martyn le Roux’s serialised podcast, Die Soutwaterheks which you can find here. It’s a story about light as life blood and the inherent evil of humanity.

Again, the episode is about the wonders of the magical world beyond our ken as human beings, and it doesn’t move from the table at the bar at which Frans, Belinda and all their seaman buddies are transfixed, by Salacia’s explanation in raggedy English and Afrikaans. There’s a gesture toward the presence of Angelique’s dad, Captain Claassen, who is welcomed into this circle of wonderment, as it is a call to adventure in a bid to use the pragmatics of being human to save Salacia’s beleaguered kin.

Think the God Particle, the superquick advances in communication technology and weaponry since the end of the Second World War, and all that’s never mentioned in the annuls of war and its aftermath, and you will get an idea of the leaps and lengths presented in Salacia’s world, counterpoised as it is against ours. Of course, there are hefty doses of the incredulous here, and steps that are a littler heavier than tiptoes into the realm of alternative theories to life, the world and everything.
